I'm re-posting this. It was posted a couple of days ago here by Starsbottomleft. I am re-posting, hoping that a better title will get better visibility and more discussion. I personally see this as an end to the need for community colleges, and a significant blow to 4-year universities. Basically large universities only up-sell would be Master's level degrees. It seems that this would make a zero barrier to entry for educational tracks, and would crush the financial machine that pushes debt on younger generations. I think there are lots of questions to ask here, but I find this very hopeful.
This is a valid point. How would this fundamentally work in a way that couldn't be weaponized down the road? If high positions of power within the Education system were voted on, that might carry accountability (if voting couldn't be rigged). I'm pretty torn here. I lean more into the philosophy of "he who governs least governs best". Generally, I'd agree and say government should stay out of Education. However, I don't think that Education properly embodies the "will of the people" and should have more influence from the populace.
