Sounds like the most precious metal in hyperinflation is lead
And the most valuable job is farmer
Farmer is always the most important job IMHO
Sorry this is Youtube.
Dude's a bit slow, but I found it to be an interesting discussion of what happened in Wiemar Germany during hyperinflation - who did well and who didn't.
Might be some lessons here, especially regarding governments appropriating precious metals (and other things) to "solve" the problem they created...
One of the greatest books I have ever read.
Thanks for sharing. The video piqued my interest in the referenced book, but I hadn't heard of it previously. I may check it out.
I have thousands of books that I have read... I dog ear the top to mark my spot...
I dog ear the bottom if there is something important on that page... that book is damn near completely dog eared at the bottom... and I was thinking of ways I could get some extra dog ears in there.
Another great book on money is "The Bitcoin Standard" ... one of the best books on money in general that I have ever read... They hardly talk about bitcoin until about 2/3 in...
Another great book on economics is "How and economy grows and why it crashes" by Peter Schiff... while I am not the gold bug he is... great book... and middle schoolers can handle it well...
Another great book on economics is Economix ... a comic book that is excellent at explaining most of the important ideas in economics... again, kids can get most of it... disregard the socialist crap at the end... all of these people get all commie in the end...
I have read 'The wealth of nations" moar than once... and while it's great... getting big ideas into as many brains as possible is important...
Thank you for those suggestions. I have some flights coming up and am always at a loss looking for something to read.
Never considered the whole taxes aspect. A sack of potatoes worth more than the whole family’s silver collection… why don’t we back out currency w potatoes? It’s gotta be better than our current debt backed dollar.
The Virginia colony used Tobacco as their currency.
When inflation really starts, I am going to suggest to my neighbors we just stop using dollars altogether. Either we barter with something we have an abundance of, or we only accept dollars printed before a certain date or something like that.
I don't think we have enough silver between all of us to sustain our local economy, and I think silver is too valuable to use as currency in such a situation.
I always wondered about mortgages. Seems they'd be quickly paid off by most people. At least you wouldn't have to worry about foreclosure, although probably there'd be plenty of other things to worry about.
This time around, very very few people have any precious metals at all. Potatoes will still be king.
I am not accepting retarded people who believe in climate change in exchange for my labor.
some of his data sounds implausible when compared with other data he spouts but maybe it's just me. eggs and bread price for example. certainly some aspects worth considering though
