Show me how many don't seek election every election cycle for the last 20 years. I'm not saying this isn't important, and they aren't seeking election for a very Questionable reason. I'm asking if this is normal, and if it isn't, how far out of the norm are we?
good idea

just replace date at end of url
2012 isn’t a good one to use. All of the disillusioned (and blackmailed) Tea Party patriots spun their tires getting the hell out of DC ( I would bet!)
Excellent link. Thank you. According to this site, it's very common for members to retire from office and the numbers so far this year are actually low in comparison. This doesn't mean the reason for retirement is the same. Maybe they are being forced to retire. We just have no way of knowing.
Considering many have been in the game for years and years, I don’t think this is normal.
Not normal according to Q Post 24:
Any person making statements they will not be seeking re-election was put in SUBMISSION. For the betterment of the country not all will be prosecuted and all will do as told. You will see more of this occur (not normal yet disregarded) and even on the D side.
