I live off grid and my electricity comes from solar. Lithium are the bast batteries when it comes to depth of discharge. With car or marine type batteries, you can only discharge to 50% before having to recharge or you will permemnetly damage your batteries. This means, only half of your total storage capacity is usable. With Lithium, you can discharge all the way down without damaging your batteries. Lithium is 4 times the cost of car or marine batteries though. What would cost me a couple hundred in car batteries, costs me a couple grand in Lithium. A domestic Lithium mine means my batteries now cost less. The downside is that very few people like it when they start mining in your neighborhood
