Please take heed. I was in hospital several times non-covid. When you come into the ER a nurse gives you a form to sign and simply says 'This is just you giving us permission to treat you'. Quite a long form for a simple request. ANYTIME they want you to sign something READ IT and scratch out what you dont consent to. Every time there was a DNR order on it.
Simple logic - if I consent to DNR, why did I go to the ER in the 1st place.
Same thing with other forms they want you to sign even on discharge. Stuff like they had me down as never married (I was married twice and have 2 kids), no next of kin so that they could do whatever they want without getting consent from family. Activities of daily living they put in as normal when in fact I am handicapped and that affects my benefits. So much might seem minor to people but can be misused to your detriment. Nurse got pissed off at me about these so I wrote down her name right in front of her and reminded her that it is a FEDERAL FELONY to put false information in a patient's medical records - remember, that becomes a permanent record, and she could lose her nursing license.

Thank you for sharing this. It is important to read everything before signing.
