Russia offered to end its invasion of Ukraine if it dumped plans to join NATO, but Kyiv feared a double-cross, says negotiator

A Russian delegation during 2022 peace talks told Ukraine to give up NATO ambitions to resolve the conflict, but Kyiv feared it would be double-crossed.

it doesnt even make sense. if you say "ok fine we wont join nato" and russia doesnt stop attacking you could just resume nato plans. you arent giving anything tangible up
