Depends on how strictly or loosely you define “Caesarism”. Going full out Autocratic, Authoritarian Dictatorship. I won’t necessarily say impossible. Because nothing is completely impossible. Just incredibly unlikely. Especially given the quirks of the American system.
In a looser definition. Probably better odds of any American Caesarism taking the shape of an ultra-nationalist, borderline jingoistic resurgence of National Pride. Civil Service being considered an honor. Etc. Probably with future attempts to link the franchise, IE right to vote, to some as of yet undefined restriction. I’d imagine Civil Service would be the easiest one to sell to the population in such a theoretical nationalist resurgence.
No telling how successful such attempts would be though. As it would depend on the skill and charisma of whoever is making such as of yet unmade arguments.
But If I had to take a reasonable guess though. Given the drama of the past few decades. And the by now fairly public knowledge of the susceptibility of the wider population to manipulation.
One should reasonably expect future attempts to limit the amount of people eligible to vote. In some form or fashion. Whether through Civil Service obligations. Or some other restriction. In order to avoid the well known/publicized faults of how things are done currently. IE people voting themselves more welfare. Or politicos buying votes with the promise of expanding the welfare state and loosening restrictions on who can qualify.
