In fairness to us our ancestors had a far easier fight.

1. King George's main military was a 40 day sail away, meaning you could act and he wouldn't even know what you had done for 40 days. And he couldn't react with substantial re-enforcement's for 40 more days, assuming he had forces ready to go.

2. King George had the French about 5 days sail away and thus had to be very careful how many troops he committed to fighting abroad because he needed enough at home to prevent invasion.

3. The Colonials had the assistance of France.

The US government has a massive nuclear deterrent with which to threaten any other power that sought to intervene.

4. The King of England's weapon systems, intelligence, and communications were of the same technological level as the colonists.

The US Government has a massive technological advantage over any rebels. How many Jan 6th protesters are known to them just based off phone data? Cross reference gun and ammunition sales with social media monitoring and I bet the government already has a list of the people they'd most expect to oppose them in that manner.

5. I think there is far more hatred between the citizens in modern America than in the colonies. 59% of Democrats would have confined us to our homes, except in case of emergency, for refusing the "vaccine". 48% of them were in favor of criminal punishment for vaccine criticism. That's way worse than 20% of the colonies being loyalists.
