I constantly hear from realtors asking if we want to sell our house. It's not on the market, and we've lived here for thirty years. The buyers are mostly people leaving high cost urban/urban adjacent areas. There are far more buyers than sellers, and houses are selling for hundreds of thousands more than just a few years ago. They're not buying in order to rent the houses out, they just want to live somewhere quiet.
That sucks. If there are any airbnbs near me, it's not obvious. Maybe my town has an ordinance against them. I hope so, but I live in a summer resort area, and I'm thinking the many hotel owners have done what they can to discourage it. Just like no food trucks because they take business away from taxpaying restaurants.
My condolences. I would hate that for my neighborhood. Bad enough putting up with the often rude and arrogant visitors we get in the summer. We even have town-wide celebrations the week after Labor Day when they all leave.
