Probably for similar reasons to why our respiratory illnesses spiked the first winter after most of the Covid lockdowns were lifted. Remember China re-opened in January of this year so this is the first "full" flu season since their very draconian lockdowns. If it were mostly vaccine related I might have expected we would have had a similar problem in 2021 or 2022 when we vaccinated all kinds of kids and other people here.
