There is one other possibility: an enterprising entrepreneur hopes some random dumbass will really buy a pic of pizza for 9 grand.
EZ cash, EZ life.
Classify bullshit as fine art, and podesta et al will buy it.
I doubt that you even believe this angle.
Not for a millisecond.
That being said, the amount of junk I've seen people spend ridiculous amounts of money on truly boggles the mind.
I'll give one example: had a co-worker who was NOT the sharpest tool in the shed. Bought what he believed to be a medieval blade for about $3500, after seeing pics of it in an online auction. It wasn't a bait and switch either, the pics represented the item. The seller never claimed it was an antiquity or authentic, using terms like "collectors item", "historical", etc. He placed the one and only bid at the ridiculous starting price, without appraisal and without escrow.
Turned out to be a 440 stainless replica which could be purchased for $150. Even had a model number! Lol. He tried to claim fraud but as the description was technically correct he basically had to eat the loss.
So, do I think that is what is REALLY going on here? No. But I wouldn't be shocked either.
Humans are so often shitty to each other. It's the level of shitty-ness that defines the difference between your general neighborhood asshole, a criminal, or the confidence men who walk a fine line between the two.
I agree. One has to do their research. And as you pointed out the deception was all in the wording. That should have been red flags to the buyer.
Here with the prices this is targeting a specific cliental . Nobody would pay that price for a pizza pic. The Question is what is really going on here ? The FBI released code words they use and that happens to be one of them. I notice ETSY has remained silent ,or I have not found anything as of this time explaining this.
I enjoy the Lakota version of fair trade. where everyone leaves happy. This falls in line with the Christian teachings. Both carry the same values and those values are good with God.
Great points. You're right, the wording on these are very mundane.
Etsy hasn't confirmed or denied?
Damn. Talk about chickening out.
