My husband questioned my mother in law (his mom) who is a devout Catholic about the Pope’s new ruling to bless marriage and she replied, “the Catholic religion doesn’t condemn gays, just the action of gay sex”. Now how does that make sense? I love this woman dearly as she has been much more if a mom to me than my own ever was and during discussions with her I know she loves Jesus with all her heart, but when I have questioned why pray to Mary, dead Saints or confess to a Priest or call a Priest Father or pray Rosary or those other repetitive prayers or cross themselves “just to understand because I was raised Baptist” she goes on defensive shuts down on me. I believe she is decieved yet loves the Lord and I pray quite regularly for God to remove her blinders because the Bible specifically says.
1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
My hubs is was raised catholic too, I was raised in an evangel church with speaking in tongues, a lady with a tambourine etc. We have had some heated religious discussions. Anyhow I have lots of thoughts regarding this pope. His mother is the same, regardless of the craziness this pope has done she just discounts it and moves on. I dont understand that mentality at all.

It is very difficult to let go of a lifetime of belief and "education" in religious or social matters. VERY difficult. In my own spiritual journey I have had to, with some difficulty, let go of some things that were ingrained in me from childhood. Grant people the grace to discover their paths on their own, offering encouragement and your thoughts ONLY when asked for them.
In Jesus name, I Bind and Rebuke any Spirit that tells me nit to speak about God and His word!! For God tells us in His word to do so. I command You to leave and do NOT RETURN!! I SLAM that door on you, nail it shut and cover it over with the Precious and Holy BLOOD OF JESUS!!!
Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 18:18” Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Mark 16:15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Matthew 18 A Brother Who Sins (Deuteronomy 19:15–21) 15If your brother sins against you,c go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’d 17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
18Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Yes I agree, sometimes people are so ingrained it boggles the mind but I get it.
There is a famous quote by Mark Twain that I use frequently: "It is easier to fool a man than to convince him that he's been fooled."
Yes indeed!
