A president indirectly pressuring his AG? Perish the thought
“We’ve got to get the attorney general to act,” Trump said in an interview on “Fox & Friends.” “He’s got to act, and he’s got to act fast. He’s got to appoint somebody. This is major corruption, and this has to be known about before the election.”
(I'll let you guess which presidential candidate he was talking about)
There’s nothing wrong with the executive branch doing what the executive wants. The problem is with Presidents pretending their DOJ is independent in order to do things that the public doesn’t want and for which they’re unwilling to take responsibility for.
