Not my best, but I wrote this when I was young one night around Christmas right after getting home from the bar.

There once were some shepherds that followed a star
It lit their way as it beamed
Told them which way, even how far
And everything else it seemed.

It led them to a place far, far away
Bethlehem was the name of the town
To a babe that lie asleep in the hey
And the wisemen gathered around.

This babe was born our savior
To take on the sins of man
Born of a virgin, he would suffer and die
To fulfill his fathers plan.

He traveled the land with sandaled feet
Down a path that would end at the cross
Bringing the good news to everyone that he'd meet
That without him all would be lost.

He knew we couldn't live a perfect life
It's just the way of human behavior
So he told us he'd forgive us for our sin and our strife
If we had faith in him as our savior.

Now he's in heaven, his kingdom to rein
At the right had of God on his thrown
We could be there too if we believe on his name
But we'll never make it along.
