A Winthrop Police Lieutenant is in police custody, and has been placed on leave this morning, set to be arraigned on multiple charges including rape of a child.
According to sources, Lt. James Feeley, a 20-plus year veteran member of the department was taken into custody Tuesday after what we are being told are several victims came forward alleging that that they were all raped by Feeley.
In a statement released this morning, Chief Terrance Delehanty announced “James Feeley has been placed on administrative leave from the Winthrop Police Department pending the outcome of a criminal investigation headed by State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office.”
Feeley is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court
