There are 2 types of memory, non-volatile and volatile. One is semi-permanent but has limited read/write capability, the other is faster, cheaper, but requires a charge to keep the data.
Notice that when you disconnect your battery, you lose your radio stations? That’s volatile memory. Takes very little charge to keep data, but no battery, no data.
Haven’t checked, but if your phone is set to delete texts (fan of WhatsApp, Signal) the phone would be the only data backup. The car would be wiped when you remove the cables for a few seconds.
Any car person who can disabled that? Just wondering.

So what you are saying, if I understand, is to pop the battery on the hood. Everything is wiped then.
