Hilariously enough the "Experts" have recently weighed in on how statistically insignificant the effect apparently is to social groups.
"In this article, we have attempted to provide an explanation of the DK effect which does not require any psychological explanation. By specifying a simple statistical model which explicitly takes the (random) boundary constraints into account, we achieve a near-perfect fit, thus demonstrating that the DK effect is a statistical artifact. In other words: there is an effect, but it does not reflect human nature."
In part the misuse surrounding this as you rightly labeled it "Phenomena" is why I decided to post on the term. Although I've not experienced this being used as an insult personally, I do know many people that exhibit these behaviors. Anyways, Thank you for the addition of your thoughts on the subject fren!
