Home birth wasn't an option for us with the twins. Thankfully we were at an awesome hospital too, because one of them was having some breathing difficulties for the first few days. All is well now, thank God.
Oh my, I’m glad you made it through ok. My twins were like that except the one with breathing issues had more serious things and we had to stay for almost two weeks.
We were there for 8 days total. She was just forgetting to breathe while eating or sucking on a pacifier and her oxygen saturation was dropping because of it. It was pretty routine for the doctors and nurses, but scared the absolute shit out of me. They're over 3 months old now and kicking ass. Hope all is well with yours!
I am in a great place right now but only due to my faith and perseverance. Now that I think back on it, sometime around the eighth day it went from what seemed like a nightmare to worse. The one twin that was like yours, needing help with breathing, didn’t seem to be improving and they wouldn’t eat by mouth so they had to use a tube down their nose. They had also identified enough conditions to realize this child wouldn’t be eating on her own soon despite everything we’d tried. We also began to understand and realize fully later, they couldn’t swallow. It was a long road of treatment and slow coming victories but each day brings a new set of what my child can’t do, but just might achieve despite all odds. It’s really a test of faith and daily dedication to the Lord to push through these struggles into victory. It’s been what seems like 10+ years but it’s only been about half that.
I prayed intensely on they day the twins were born, morning the fact that two equal babies, were not going to get the same standard of living or length of life. I prayed that the one that has all these health problems, would be fully healed. On that day, I knew I would get my prayer answered, it’s just a matter of time. I’m also not suggesting that they will be healed once they go to heaven, before. I’m saying this on faith, one day you will all hear about this story and the great miracle we will receive.
Oh, and each new child is a blessing despite what the American culture wants to say.
Thankfully we didn’t have to do any of the state tests recently, though we had to do a home birth. That means no poking at all for the baby
