Shares plunged in Hong Kong and Shanghai on Tuesday as investors turned their attention to the impact of a decision by a Hong Kong court to order the liquidation of the once-mighty Chinese developer Evergrande.

The Hang Seng Index sank 2.32 percent, or 373.79 points, to 15,703.45.

There have been steeper declines in the past,

but the market is half of what it was 5 years ago..
