If they make the switch before puberty, it can be very hard to tell, especially after hormone therapy, vocal cord training (easier for those who've trained their entire lives to sound convincing) and Adam's Apple reductions...

Jamie Lee Curtis was Jamie Curtis, a boy. They claim the newspapers got that wrong, of course.
