Michael Connett is the lead attorney in a groundbreaking lawsuit against the EPA that seeks to ban the addition of fluoridation chemicals to drinking water. The case, which is set to start trial tomorrow before a federal court in San Francisco, focuses on a growing body of science linking fluoride exposure to adverse neurodevelopmental disorders in children, and features studies funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Michael is a partner at Waters Kraus & Paul in the firm’s Los Angeles office. He represents victims catastrophically injured by toxic substances and dangerous products, including families dealing with birth defects resulting from chemical exposures in manufacturing industries.

Under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of 1976, a group of non-profits and individuals petitioned the U.S. EPA in 2016 to end the addition of fluoridation chemicals into drinking water due to fluoride's neurotoxicity. The EPA rejected the petition. In response, the groups sued EPA in Federal Court in 2017. A 7-day trial was held in June 2020, with no ruling by the Court. The next phase of the trial is expected to be in January 2024
