Amen, same here. Our tribe went to Europe and did a few Pow Wows. the people dressed up and even had bead workd and festhers. Everyone sang and danced and had a great time. There was none of this negative energy being pushed around. In fact many of them loved our songs and dances. Even the kids were having a great time. Mitakuye Oyasin, all my realtions .
That's exactly how I feel about it. People think it's cool, which is fine by me. I think it's cool, too.
Always love going to pow wows, haven't been in a few years though. I'll have to take my future wife (current gf) and her daughter to one one of these days.
I still sing the old prayer songs and all. I played the Medicine Drum and sang Ate Wakan Tanka. I explained to the group it is asking Father Great Spirit ro come see us, and asking unshimalayo can be translated as mecy, pity or forgiveness. The people ask for good health so I send a voice. Send a voice is our word for prayer Then after explaining the words i the song I do the prayer song in Lakota. And I have people elarning this song and singing it. Our word for prayer is I send a voice.
Sounds like a great idea and i believe they will love it also.
