It's to make transportation out of reach for americans. Ban gas cars but make it very difficult to obtain juice to run electric cars.
Did you see the weight problem? I didn't know.
The other side of the weight problem is that it negates all of your cars safety equipment. Getting hit by a 10,000 pound hummer at speed, will kill you.
