Well, in the end you have to be practical about such purchases. I'd hold them for their "cool" value, but would only buy if they are reasonable, given the current spot price, which last time I checked was around $21+ change. I could stand a $5 premium, but more than that, not so sure. After all, I have a lot of other silver stacked, no need to run out and buy more at this time.
I dont buy a lot of the expensive stuff. But trump stuff i dont pass up on a round or 2. Some of it will be "collectors" pieces in the future.
Id buy biden stuff too for the same reason. But it never shows up at the lcs.not even anti biden stuff.
We have very different attitudes toward silver. I've NEVER regarded silver or gold as any kind of "investment," meaning to buy low and sell high. I have silver purely as a hedge against currency collapse... when our currency becomes worthless and won't buy anything, I'll have silver to barter for what I need. Suddenly silver will find its true value and it won't be in dollars...it will be for what it can buy, like food and necessities. I put silver away and simply "forget" that it's there.... until one day it's the only thing that will buy things I need.
Plus a sufficient supply of lead and brass to protect the silver... and my ass.
Part of silvers value is only a small percentage of people ahve it. People will be selling stuff to get more so they can buy things. I'll never convert mine back to monopoly currency. Onky for goods and services. I purchase almost monthly and can hardly believe they take fiat for it. There will be people unable to buy with out it unless the we back our currency with gold and silver. Then I'll convert to make it easier. Only a little at a time as I need to do trade. I'm on the fence as to whether gold and silver will go through the roof in value. I do believe it will rise higher than it is.
Yeah, I understand all that. I too wonder what will happen to the value of my silver if the US currency is ever put back on some precious metal standard -- gold, silver, platinum...
About buying silver with fiat currency, I once had this very conversation with my local silver dealer. I told him that I considered silver only as a means to survive a currency collapse, NOT as an investment. He said, "You mean if the price of silver jumped to $100 per ounce you wouldn't sell this back to me?" He was incredulous, but I said "No way. Not as long as the currency is not backed by anything."
He's a shrewd businessman, but it seems he cannot conceive of our currency collapsing. Apparently he knows nothing of history.
Same. I only buy Eagles and other silver with well known quality and purity that I could trade for at top value.
I don't give a shit about MCGS First Day etc
Engelhardt prospectors are good but u don't see them much
Yeah, I don't collect and if someone needed something I have their collectable would only get them melt. The premiums need to go.
All Dorthy need to go home from OZ was her SILVER shoes.
Um... whut?
Wasn't the entire show about the money system?
