My husband and I were each raised in Christian homes. In our life together (40+ years) we have not attended church on a regular basis.
Then came Q, who we discovered in January 2018. We talked more about God and to God. It’s been great. We became closer and began re-forming our connection(s) with God. We spend about half our time Off-Grid with no church around, but we love and appreciate the beauty of the place God has created for us.
About a year or so ago, I was in a discussion here (or maybe it was Patriots.win). I mentioned we wanted to read the Bible. A Fren for whom I am most grateful, suggested we do Bible In A Year podcast with Father Mike. We completed it for 2023 and have decided to do it again in 2024.
I was planning to thank that person who had made this suggestion to me, but I lost my password here and had to start another account about half way through the year. 🫤 So to whoever that wonderful Fren may be…..Thank you.
This is not an advertisement for Bible In A Year. I simply want to say thank you. Your suggestion has been a blessing in our lives. 🙏
I was looking for an audio book of the Catholic Bible, Old and New Testament. I came across this 'Bible in a Year' podcast and its associated apple (also android) app called Ascension, that you can read along in the app the Bible text or just listen to the podcast through the app. All free of charge. Seems what I was looking for. I'm only a week into it. I use it while driving as well (the audio!).
Yes. We listen every evening. I found I wanted to take notes at times so this year I paid $ for their books/notebooks. If I could have seen them (in my hands) before I bought them, I doubt I would have, but I’m still good with that. I’ve gained so much from listening. I also have the Ascension app. My husband can listen and understand, I need to read it and listen (dyslexic here). Cheers!
Is this a Catholic bible only reading? Why not original bible?
I don’t know. It is done by the company Ascension who I believe are Catholic. You do not need to be Catholic to listen. I have a number of different bibles. I followed along last year with those. I chose this year to follow along with the version Fr. Mike is using. I am Catholic. My husband is not. We have found it helpful because reading the Bible on our own was too daunting.
I'm just a slow reader and most of my free time is usually where I can listen rather than read. I got into audio books and became a voracious 'reader' (listener). lol
