90% of companies say they’ll return to the office by the end of 2024—but the 5-day commute is ‘dead,’ experts say
Even though more companies have introduced stricter in-office requirements for employees, office occupancy has remained relatively unchanged from the past year.
I have heard from several people that believe this is an effort to generate positive economic feelings ahead of election. Back to office means a boost to labor-required jobs. Restaurants, parking, office maintenence, shops, commercial real estate and all areas that support office personnel etc. etc. Theory is that it will give an artificial impression that the economy is doing well. Media will soon be reporting that people "feel" that the economy is booming. Then we will hear: "All hail Biden for fixing the economy."
