Musk buying Twitter really screwed the project. Gab and Truth Social haven't developed into what they could have been without a plausible mainstream alternative.
You can upload your photos to a third party source and share the link but your followers would need to click on it to see it.
This move makes sense financially as it ensures hardware and storage is paid for by the people actually dedicated to the platform.
This may be more a move to weather the storm and an unspoken plan to remove these policies if/when sound money is finally a reality, but this is just speculation on my part.
The comments on Torba's announcements are all over the place.
It bothers me that during an information war, he would start charging us to post memes. I deleted my account. Many gabbers started a group at Truth. I hate Truth's layout. It is annoying to have to scroll up and down to see the full post of a pic or meme. Too much space wasted on menu items.
Will be interesting to see how this works out. We know social media doesn't make any money, it survives on cabal funding. When the cabal is done, will the era of free email, free social media, free video storage, etc be over?
Gab has too much repetitive posts of complete crap being sold. And every "group" was started by someone selling stuff and posting in the group too much. Ugh. So maybe a change is for the best. But to be really petty I have to admit that as one of the actual core beginning group of people with gab, way back when, then it went to having paid members and the core group should have been given that membership to thank us, we were not. I was mad at Torba. Never really felt appreciated as we should have been. So, pooh.
Gab said it was because bad actors are uploading media every day for the sole purpose of eating their data. Gab isn't allowed on any cloud service so its paying a premium to exist.

Torba is pissed that Q chose Voat over Gab IMHO.

Deleted my account yesterday.
