Invader's family can file civil suit against you, even if you escape criminal prosecution under a Castle law scenario. (not a lawyer but recently had this discussion with a small town prosecutor on this scenario.)

A lot of people act without thinking. The First Amendment would allow you to pose a question to the invader's family: If I shot your son/father/husband just for trying to break in and steal whatever they could carry from my house what do you think I'm going to do to anyone trying to take everything from me in Court?
