I came across this when video trolling and it immediately caught my attention. I realize that No Name is already long dead, but I was wondering if anyone knew more about this or could dig something related up. It seems all too coincidental that one of the most notorious deep state politicians was involved in this, as it was is aircraft that was hit.
Could it have been a message to him or an attempt because someone close to him displeased the powers that be?
This has me also wondering about the other stories about his service and what the conditions were like when he was captured. I can't help but be suspicious when Trump made the remark about him not being any hero for what he went through.

Note: Edited to have the link to the full video rather than the short. It leaves even more questions as, according to Wikipedia (lousy source I know) McCain was in that jet when it was hit by the rocket.
He was playing around (hot dogging) and wet started his engines. Basically he flooded the combustion chamber with fuel and then fired the engines up. This results in a loud bang and shoots out a plume of flames on startup. That set off a Zuni rocket on the F4B Phantom behind his jet which shot across the deck starting a fire and killing 134 sailors and injuring 161. Of course since his dad was an Admiral, as was his grandad, they covered it up by saying it was an electrical problem that caused it. Although numerous witnesses (sailors) testified that it was the wet start. BTW, one of the first things you learn as a jet pilot is to never wet start a jet engine.
Thank you, you remembered all the details better than I and explained it very succinctly.
Regarding OP’s middle paragraph, if you weren’t already aware, no name offered his assistance to the VC’s by letting them record him encouraging troops to surrender, that he had been treated very well and that they would be too. He has always been a traitor.
I remember, he was the Tokyo Rose for North Vietnam. After the war the Vietnamese were so appreciative of No Name they built a monument to him on the shore of Truc Bach Lake outside of Hanoi where he was shot down.

There any chance of a translation of what's on that monument?
And you’ve done it again. Thank you.
Am I correct in remembering that when he was shot down, he was also disobeying orders of some kind? Flying somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be flying?
