Standard American Diet will give you type 2 diabetes. You do not have to look "overweight" to get type 2 diabetes.
Best thing to do is get off Standard American Diet. Eat as close to nature as possible. Meaning, eat eggs, good oils like avocado, olive, bacon grease, tallow, etc , no corn oil, no vegetable oils, no canola oils, etc. Use butter, ghee, not margarine. Eat meat, chicken, pork, seafood, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Take it slow because you will find out you may get inflammation from foods you never thought about.
Dr Berry suggests a 90 day elimination diet of beef, butter, bacon and eggs. After 90 days, slowly add in a vegetable, or fish to see if your body has an adverse reaction. Many people find they have inflammation from dairy!
