The Talmud is man attempting to build a ladder to God by interpreting His Word to their own ends. This ladder minimizes sin and promotes good works. During biblical times, it was promoted as the "tradition of the elders"

Jesus condemns it: Matthew 15:1-10

And, again, he warns of the "yeast of the Pharasees": Matthew 13:33, Matthew 16:5
