Claims that protesting against genocide is somehow anti-Israeli propaganda ginned up by Qatar is just clutching at straws. For a start, Doha is very diverse, with many refugees from various countries, who are living a precarious life on the outskirts. That story of forced labor is half right. Those refugees (wonder where they came from?) live in cardboard shacks and are readily employed for all sorts of construction-work, and domestic service. there are also squads of white uniformed Indians who run restaurants as if it is the old world. But, that work enables the refugees to at least feed their children.
Sure there are differences to Western countries living in Doha. But it is a relatively safe place, if you live in a walled garden, don't steal, cover up the women, observe Friday as the 'day off' instead of Sunday, and don't drink in public. (And yes, one can drink alcohol in private). But it isn't as Sharia-oriented as the Saudis. There are even walled clubs where Westerners can entertain themselves swimming and drinking. Just don't try and smuggle Playboy MAgazine into the country.
Also, I have found that Al Jazeera has been accurately reporting on this Palestine thing. So praps this is why we are seeing some Qatar hate.
