My daughter works at a NICU so I reached out and asked her about this. It's not just Alberta, across the entire world still birth rates increased by 25-35% from 2018 to 2022. From 2023 to 2024 so far it looks like they are starting to decline by 5-10%, so there are less still births.
Her theory is that the lock downs created a situation where women couldn't see their doctors so high risk pregnancies weren't getting caught early and the babies pass.
The other factor in this is that she told me in the last 10 years she's seen the average age of moms get older and older. When she started in the NICU it wasn't that busy of a floor. But over the last 5-8 years as moms go from on average 25 years old for their first births to now 31 years old for their first birth there are way more complications and issues.
She said most of the moms she sees at the NICU are around 40 and having their first baby with dads in their early 50s which is no good for genetic material and healthy babies. She told me every year past 30 increases the chances for birth defects and still births by around 5%, meaning a mom in her early 40s has around a 70% chance of having a kid with birth defects.
This is one of the many reasons you see way more kids with down syndrome and autism nowadays than you did 20 years ago.
The increase beginning in 2017 may be the from the Gardasil HPV vaccines which were in full effect around 2009.
Don't be fooled, the Gardasil formulations have been evolving to include more cancer "prevention" ingredients.
In 2014, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a nine-valent version, Gardasil 9, to protect against infection with the strains covered by the first generation of Gardasil as well as five other HPV strains responsible for 20% of cervical cancers (types 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58). In 2018, the FDA approved expanded use of Gardasil 9 for individuals 27 to 45 years old.
It's certainly possible that they change the actual ingredients and add others that are not disclosed on the official product information card. They work hard to avoid "Informed Consent" and take every possibly opportunity to exploit your doctor and our ignorance.
Darn, I scanned it too quickly and missed your last comment. Was early here and just getting started on my coffee. Gave you an upvote for correcting me.
I never really thought about it before, but yesterday I was at my shop and really started looking at the afternoon customers and a ton of them are women in their late 40s with toddlers. My grandma was around 40 when I was a toddler.

Doubtful, there was 10 years of testing for that from what I read and showed no increase in still birth or fertility issues.
Also, around 50% of women took that vaccine, the numbers would be way up across the board across the US and world, not just Alberta

Sure, anything is possible, but you'd see different numbers.
Women in their 40's have higher risk of having down's syndrome babies.
Did you not read what I wrote?

No worries friend, I wake up ready to go at 4am, it's a curse and a blessing!
So your daughter said it's due to later pregnancy that's creating that phenomena?
I understand.
She said that's a huge factor.

Thank you. Good to know.
