How do you know? I’ve seen aurora, above the arctic circle and this was a totally different color. Usually green dominant with purples. This way more pink, magenta and red.
I think the edges of the aurora is red for the same reason the sunset is red. The further north you go the more dominant purple and green become but the last color is red, so in the south where you can barely see the edge of it, it's red. Something about wavelengths and spectrums
