The alarming things are the social and economic reasons for these choices, not the falling birthrates themselves, as only people with pyramid scheme societies ought to be really worried. As humanity becomes less intelligent and robots and AI become more capable increasing numbers of sub 100 IQ individuals are going to fall into the "useless eater" category.
