by the way the guy who's thread you are discussing is very anti Putin.
The whole point of his research is to design better sanctions on Russia.
For example, one of his key insights Russia has almost no machine tool production capacity of its own.
For example, they looked at job listings for a Russia arms producer and the skills they looked for were people with experience from 10 different tools made in the Czech Republic, Germany and Italy. None were made in Russia.
Well, Russia is an energy export country, basically, it makes sense that their industries are too old by the best the West has to offer. For instance their BMP production really suffered from sanctions from Germany when they weren't able to get any controls from companies like Bosch, for instance
I'm just saying that it's not much of a criticism recruiting for people with talent in these foreign machinery and tools
