The movie 'Safety not guaranteed' even had this sort of thing as a bit. The main guy wanted to go back in time to save a girlfriend from dying. She is found to be alive and well.

It made for a great push pull moment. With this board, talk of Q we are trying to avoid a bad fate. If a good plan actually works; we will never really know how bad it could have been.
