Wanting things to be close to their original meaning is usually a good thing. However, many things don't translate to different cultures, therefore localization for games shouldn't sacrifice receivability on the basis of correctness. In some cases, that means there's a fine line to walk to reach the ideal. I've seen fan re-translations where they strive for absolute accuracy, and then no one understands what's going on, or finds any of the jokes funny.
I was planning on buying this game for my kids until I found out about Vivian. It might be original, but I don't need this in games my kids are playing.
This remake also made changes in the opposite direction. They cut/altered some jokes that existed in the original Japanese and the original US localization, because the woke might find them offensive.
