If the reports of the Ordnance the Taiwanese have been packing away since WW2 just in case of such an eventuality pan out. It’ll be a very bloody campaign. Unless the CCP pulls a magical bullshit Super Weapon out its ass.
As frankly they’d be extremely limited in the amount of unguided preliminary bombardment they can do via conventional Artillery and Rockets. As part of their goals would be to specifically capture Taiwans Industrial infrastructure intact.
Triple A and SAMs out the wazoo. Anti-Shipping Missile Batteries.
And once Aircraft and Ships run that gauntlet. They still need to make the first truly opposed Beach Landings since WW2.
Artillery in Fortified and Reinforced Caves. Ala the Japanese. Miles of Fortified Defensive positions, fallback points, and Beaches.
Several Batteries of WW2 Era Siege Guns with the range to shell urban targets on the mainland. Let alone stuff trying to cross the Channel. Even if they only get off a few Salvos before being knocked out. A Salvo of 240mm shells will still fuck up the day of whoever is on the receiving end.
That’s of course not even factoring in the potential efforts of the Taiwanese Navy and Airforce. Granted they’d need to shepherd those resources carefully. Considering the CCP still has a numbers advantage
the 3 gorges dam has a target on it believe it.....it is within striking range of missiles hope the chinese can swim or at least 3 or 4 million of them..the dam is already weak and structurally detreriorting......surfs up
