While he is at it, he needs to get rid of the fees associated with FOIA requests. Pass it as law through congress too. The public should never have to pay money to get public information from our own govt.!
I would be ok with a small processing fee of like +- $100 or so, but not the thousands it currently costs.
It usually pays an hourly fee of the lowest paid clerical worker. Seriously got all the email correspondence from a health officer with some other people... 20 bucks for all the covid lock down BS. Saw the lies brought it to light at meetings with the emails
I do not have much knowledge of the specifics for how they apply fees to FOIA. But, I do know that people who file for FOIA are often required to pay out thousands of dollars to get those FOIA, largely due to govt. bureaucratic red-tape complicating the process, or requiring multiple filings, re-filings, etc. (which costs extra money) to accomplish the task. Also, parties sometimes need to hire lawyers (more money) to chop through all the red-tape as well.
This is part of the reason for why donating money to organizations that routinely make FOIA requests, like JudicialWatch, ACLJ, and others, is always a good bang for your buck donation strategy.

Never made a FOIA request, always thought it was free. It costs thousands?! Could you expand on the fees associated with the request a little bit?
