I watched a Documentary long ago that discussed the initial products being exported to Europe, and The Livestock brought both directions.
Lumber and Fish, the claim was there was more fish in the river than water jokingingly. The lumber went for shipbuilding, they needed old growth trees for Ship's Masts, and long planks etc.
It happens with everything just about. Corporations need to go away, they are a con game where they control the corporations, but collectively we own them. It's similar to charities, people give money to this ripoff charities instead of taking personal actions. Instead of having an idea for a business, it's like "Pst Over Here"
Corporation that builds the building I'm in at this moment 5,000 workers (Not counting Illegals) 5 B In Revenues. 1 Million a worker. Major tenant of building 1,000 employees, 500 M in Revenue 500K per head, yet it is a partnership and there are very few of the people working as peons. A law firm with over 700 Lawyers. They get catering in almost daily, free anything to drink etc... I'd love to see their Benefits prg.
I was smart with my money in some ways, though I never accumulated a lot. Since I have no descendants, and my wife spends money like crazy, and earns more than I, My goal is to die when I spend my last silver round. Heh heh. I retired early and moved abroad, we had to return to USA with suitcases. So I spent money to get us setup in the USA.
Most people don't do what they need to do ahead of time, and the Nursing Homes drain you slow or the hospital drains you fast. They even send Estate People to sell all your things. We built a house in the Philippines for wife's retirement. We are now renting in the USA @ 1995, but to buy the house would be 3k +Tax, Ins, Upkeep, no thanks... I'm almost 66...
I'm good at buying, but mediocre at selling, and I hate Banks, Last Home loan was on a rental @ 2.74% last 2 car loans were @ 0% and .9%
I plan on going to the Philippines for half a year when its cold here each year. Then returning here to work if I need to. I like the People of the Philippines, and I can help more there.
odd how the people that fear the climate crisis want to drink water from fiji..
True Dat!
...for the same reason the best shrimp is found in Kansas City...
...and the best American lumber is in Europe...
