El Salvador went to war against an objectively evil organization that had infiltrated practically every aspect of the country the government is supposed to serve. It would be nearly impossible to clean that place up “the slow way” while the enemy fights back, adapting and bribing their way through until the well-meaning people are either corrupted, removed, or exhausted into resignation.
In my opinion it’s better that action is taken and mistakes are corrected later than to enter a more drawn-out battle, showing respect to an enemy that plays dirty and has no shortage of power.
