Police officers are often put in difficult situations where they have to be the attorney, the judge, and jury all by themselves and make decisions quickly. I had one of my neighbors call the police on me because I was walking down the middle of the street in the middle of the night or early morning hours. They told me they got a call from someone saying I was incoherent. The police asked me why I was walking down the middle of the street. I explained to the police officers I was walking down the middle of the street because the road is crowned and that walking at the top of the crown was easier on my feet. As soon as I said that, they thanked me for my calm behavior and let me go home.
Well. . . . to be fair. . . . they were neighbors that didn't know me and I didn't know them. They live in a house one street over. It's gotten to be a fad especially for the young people to forego the sidewalk and walk in the street instead. I have no problems with the kids doing that because the neighbors are so paranoid, they get nervous when someone is walking down the sidewalk in front of their house. But I guess walking in the 'middle' of the street was too far outside the envelope of normalcy for those other neighbors of mine.

Your neighbors? How interesting. Everyone should be able to walk down the street without police escort at any time. LOL
