A U.S. Marine veteran died alone less than a week after entering a Maine nursing home, but hundreds of strangers attended his funeral.

Its a touching story. Too bad none of them could have spared time for him while he was still alive.

That thought went through my mind too. Then I started thinking about all the other lonely vets who are still languishing by themselves at the VA homes around the country. Maybe we should stop in and visit some of these heroes.

My thoughts exactly. These people think they are doing something right, yet why not take that1/2 hr or so to attend the funeral, but instead go to a nursing home and ask about lonely vets.
