Americans seem to use Kiev, but many others refer to the Capital city as Kyiv.

Many others are sheeple. It's pronounced and spelled Kiev for over a century. "Kyiv" is an abomination concocted in 2018, in this modern era when all sorts of other mutilation of language is also being done (cf. vaccine, immunity, herd immunity, man, woman, racist, Latinx, undocumented, etc.)
