They used the Vietnam war to spread communism not contain it.

Cambodia got independence from France in ‘53 and had a solid, home-grown kingdom for nearly 20 years until the US backed a coup. Then US bombing helped the Paris-educated Khmer Rouge take control. With US backing they murdered millions… anyone who was educated / etc. We’re told Vietnam fell to the communists when the US left, but when we left… Vietnam invaded Cambodia overthrew the communists and put a stop to their genocide.
