Why would they put more importance on stage position over having the final say?
Why would they give President Trump the last word?

Some theories,
80% - 90% of viewers are right handed. People tend to the right. Like door choices or pick a line at an amusement park etc.
Something sneaky and they need that side of the prearranged stage/set.
Is there some reason they want to avoid going last?
