I forgot about the "yellow box"... thanks for the memory jog.
Yes, I too did lots of digging on similar topics decades ago - which I think in hindsight is an inevitable path when you truly set your indoctrination aside and explore on your own without constraints. You wind up in strange neighborhoods... and even bad neighborhoods - all in the name of pursuing your truth.
Things like RV and astral travel are not only real, but can be learned - or more accurately put, remembered. Unfortunately the listening as it were for these types if things are quickly poo-pooed by bible bangers that can't see the forest for the trees and many times exploring consciousness is labeled the devil's work or whatever phrase generates the most apprehension and fear to dissuade anyone from looking deeper. What a shame.
The thing is, if you truly seek your truth, you'll never be fooled into embracing evil and you'll ultimately discover - no matter how far you venture from the fenced off garden of religious dogma - that all roads ultimately lead to God. Whatever path you diligently follow - even if it's just another cul-de-sac and you have to turn around and go back, if you are really true in your quest, you'll just wind up seeing that there only is God and all else is just a disguise and bs, as part of the game, to make things interesting... but you can only witness that if you truly exhaust all possibilities and essentially surrender to the only remaining possiblity - There is only God. Everything you see, hear, taste, smell, touch and can think of...
Absolutely... for me, that discernment you mention is God's Spirit within me, burning bright. It's that eternal light that is my reference in discerning truth from bs - I can hold it up to that light and see if it shares similar luminosity or if it's just another "shiny thing" meant to trick.
