Reagan was shot in 1981. In 1982 we had a deep recession.

These are different situations.

There were two assassination attempts on Ford. He lost.

Teddy Roosevelt lost after getting shot. He got 27% of the vote in 1912.

This is the truth whether or not people on this site like it. Reagan was shot 3 years before his second election.

In defense of the poster, a time-span of only 4 months could certainly play out in our favor.

Assassination attempts typically help preserve a more friendly legacy of a president, but as you pointed out, doesn't necessarily create a landslide. (But could!)
