For the people freaking out about reality vs. deception right about now... here is how you adapt to these changing conditions:
Skepticism - always start from a position of disbelief. Don't automatically believe anything, especially the things you very much WANT to believe are true.
Empiricism - use verifiable facts, tests measurements, experimentation, and so on to help find the proof of what is real vs. what is fake.
Rationalism - use logic and reason as the "glue" that holds everything else together.
Combined, these basically describe the Scientific Method. The key to all of it is analysis. Truth becomes stronger the more you analyze it (everything just naturally holds together simply because of the fact that it is true). In contrast, lies are very fragile, and increasingly fall apart the more you analyze them.
